As a National Visionary Donor and the Quebec Events Partner, Amgen Canada drives awareness of STEM education, offering volunteer time and financial investment for a range of programs since 2009, reaching 7 million youths and mobilizing 30,000 volunteers over the last decade.
As a National Health Partner to the ACT Foundation, Amgen Canada helps teach more than 4 million children about the risks of cardiovascular disease and provides them with life-saving skills, such as CPR.
Amgen Canada has been donating to various programs led by Start2Finish since 2016. Amgen provides learning materials and scientific calculators in the annual Backpack Program and donates science books to the Running and Reading Club.
As a Established in 2012, the Amgen Canada Fellowship in Biotechnology is open to all students enrolled in the Master of Biotechnology program. The fellowship is awarded on the basis of academic merit and on consideration of three letters of reference. Consideration is also given to students with financial need.
Amgen Foundation Programs for Students
The Amgen Scholars Program gives undergraduates the opportunities to experience cutting-edge research opportunities at world-leading universities. Canadian undergraduates can apply to attend Amgen Scholars at the University of Toronto or at four leading universities in Asia through the Amgen Scholars Asia program.
This program provides secondary school teachers with the technical training and classroom equipment needed to carry out hands-on biotech experiments in the classroom, fostering science learning at high school. In Canada, ABE is operationalized by the University of Toronto Mississauga and serves the broader regional area. The ABE labs are also available virtually through LabXchange.
As a Science Partner of Khan Academy, the Amgen Foundation is helping increase access to biology resources for students and teachers for free and online. With the Foundation’s support, Khan Academy is creating new biology lessons for students and teachers worldwide.
Sponsored by the Amgen Foundation and run out of Harvard University, LabXchange is a free online science education platform that fosters lifelong learning and opportunity for all by providing access to resources, experiences and community connections across the global scientific community.
