Most women know that as they age, the importance of getting screened for breast cancer rises considerably. But what about your bones? Watch this video to learn more about managing your risk of osteoporosis, and talk to your doctor about getting a bone density test and 10-year fracture risk assessment.

They were invited to a special event, a celebration of healthy, vibrant women over 65… but with a hidden purpose. Yes. It was a 28 double A. Of course, it's enormously important. I was a little nervous, I have to admit.

I'm always terrified they are going to find something because there's so much out there about cancer. But you need to go every year. I think it's really important.

I think it's just general health. I mean, boobs are part of our body. Breast cancer screenings are important, but what are you doing to protect your bones? Umm… I don't know.

Umm… Diet and exercise I think is the key. Calcium, vitamin D and lifestyle changes can help. But for women with osteoporosis, often this isn't enough. Wow. That I didn't know. Really? I tripped over something, and I had actually broken my rib.

And you know what? I'm very careful now when I walk. Two years after breaking a hip, close to a third of us will still need help walking. Oh gosh. That’s scary. If I broke my hip, it would be almost catastrophic. I'm used to doing everything.

The next time I go to my doctor, I will ask for a bone density test. Definitely. Very important. Because I don't want to take any chances. Help protect the life you love.
